No Doubt paid tribute to rock legend Paul McCartney at this year’s Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C., performing a montage of the performer’s hits. In matching gray suits and a hint of ska flair, the Orange Country group featured “Penny Lane” and “Hello, Goodbye” in their short but memorable performance for the Brit and the first family.
Alongside the former Beatle and the Obamas, the hefty and intimidating audience included Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, Bill T. Jones and Jerry Herman. However, No Doubt managed to ride the wave with light-hearted gusto by giving an incredibly fun performance. They even managed to induce peppy lip-synching from McCartney throughout the performance. The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual ceremony to celebrate individuals who have made commemorative contributions to the arts.
On a final and somewhat unrelated side-note, can we please discuss how Gwen Stefani is over 40 years old, a mother of two, and still manages to be the most fun, vivacious, stylish, and magnetic individual of all time? Not to mention, her pipes have not altered at all. Absolutely crazy for her.
